The 2022 Winter Paralympics, commonly known as Beijing 2022, is an international winter multi-sport parasports event currently taking place in Beijing, the People's Republic of China. It is scheduled to last from 4 to 13 March 2022. The torchbearer was Li Duan, a visually impaired long jumper who won medals in Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008 before his retirement. The snowflake rose toward the ceiling as performers sang, participants ran onto the stage and fireworks burst above the stadium. Although he can't see the light, he lights up the whole starry sky for us.

The team of Professor Su Yanqing from the School of Materials of Harbin Institute of Technology used metal 3D printing technology to effectively help the development and manufacture of the zero-carbon emission torch for the Beijing Winter Olympics.
The "Flying" torch of the Beijing Winter Olympics is like a ribbon fluttering, spinning, and rising, and finally presented as a flying flame, full of beautiful meaning. The artistic shape further compresses the interior space and increases the difficulty of torch design, processing, and manufacturing. The "high appearance" of the main torch requires excellent technical support, which not only shows the lightness of the torch but also realizes the stability of the overall structure.
By testing and optimizing a variety of 3D printing materials, Professor Su Yanqing's team optimized the forming process of the torch's internal structure, systematically verified and improved the burner 3D printing process, and finally successfully produced a hydrogen torch that fully meets the requirements. The combustion system ensures the reliability of the main torch burning of the Winter Olympics
In addition to the main torch and the hand-held torch of the Winter Olympics, a series of 3D printing black technologies such as 3D scanning and printing exclusive helmets for snow team members, 3D printed Chinese knots and snowflakes appeared at the Winter Olympics. It is believed that with the development of 3D printing technology, it will play a greater role in large-scale events such as sports events in the future.
