Crushed my first TPU print! Here are the settings I used
Just did my first-time run with TPU on my Snapmaker U1, and honestly? It wasn’t anywhere near as scary or a massive headache as everyone makes it out to be!
My first project was a few prototype gaskets for the drains down at the salon. To get started, I loaded the spool onto the side filament feeder, popped the guide tube out of Extruder #1, and gave the TPU a little 'wiggle and jiggle' to make sure it was feeding through smoothly.
Pro-tip that worked for me: I heated up the tool head before I started feeding, used the manual extrusion control to purge a little material, and then sent the file to print. After the gaskets came out perfect, then i decided to print one of my cup and phone holder for my Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP). I think I’m officially addicted.
My Print Settings (Straight from Overture)
If you want to try this yourself, here are the exact manufacturer guidelines from Overture's official site that I used:
• Nozzle Temperature: 210°C to 240°C
• Bed Temperature: 25°C to 60°C (sticks great to PEI at room temp, but 40°C-50°C helps if you need a boost)
• Print Speed: 20 to 30 mm/s (Crucial step! TPU must be run slow and steady)
• Retraction Distance: 0.5 to 1.5 mm (keeps the flexible filament from wrapping around the extruder gears)
• Retraction Speed: 20 to 30 mm/s
• Cooling Fan: 50% to 100% ON
