Automated & Moisture-Proof: Vacuum Bags, Panda Feed Rack, and Smart Spoolman Tracking!

What my setup looks like

Every Maker knows how fast a filament collection grows! Right now, I'm in the middle of rearranging and figuring out my ideal setup as my inventory expands, with a small sharde area, this is a task in itself. To keep everything accessible, I use a Panda Feed Rack as my main storage spine, paired with nearby tool storage and mobile carts for overflow.

How I protect my filament from moisture

I don't leave spools sitting exposed. Every single spool—unless it is actively loaded and printing—is sealed inside a dedicated vacuum bag with a fresh desiccant pack. This guarantees that moisture is locked out, whether the spool is resting on the rack or stored in overflow.

Smart Inventory Management

Managing this many spools without getting lost requires automated tracking. I use Spoolman to log all my inventory, but the best part is that it's tied directly to my 3D printers! The system performs automatic deduction as prints run, keeping my remaining filament weights and lengths updated in real-time without any manual tracking.

My #1 Tip for Makers

Automate your tracking and lock out moisture! Vacuum sealing protects against humidity, but tying your inventory software directly to your printers saves time and ensures you never start a print with insufficient filament.
